SIDS Link - Linking Parents

SIDSLinkIn the past 20 years, the number of infants that have succumbed to SIDS has decreased by half. In 1989, one of every 500 babies born in the US died of SIDS. Thankfully, as of 2008 that rate is down to one in every 1,000.

However, because of this significant decrease, public support for family programs focused on SIDS and its ramifications has also fallen.

In response to this dwindling support, this site was launched to bring community to those individuals whose lives have been affected by SIDS and similar causes of death.

Though our intent is to unite people who have experienced the loss of an infant or child due to an unknown cause of death, we will help find resources for other types of infant loss as well.

About Us - SIDS Link

SIDS Link was created to provide a contact point for people that have experienced a situation similar to yours. Losing a child is a painful experience, feeling alone with that pain is a tragedy.

This site was conceived as part of a capstone project for Regis University. In researching the feasibility of creating an on-demand SIDS group in the Tri-City area (Fort Collins, Loveland and Greeley, Colorado), it seemed that some existing local support services were hesitant to collaborate, mainly due to the fact that they had very few SIDS clients. The idea to find another avenue to get people together rather than the conventional “support group” came from roadblocks experienced while attempting to organize such a group. Providing a virtual meeting place, somewhere that a contact was literally an email away, seemed like the next best thing.

This site was launched by a woman who chose be a contact for others who need to talk, who need resources, for those SIDS family members that need someone to listen to them and tell them that they are not alone.

A brief biography follows.

Bree lost her 10 week old son to SIDS in April of 1989. She now has three other children. Bree has a B.S. in Applied Psychology and is completing a Masters in Professional Counseling.
